SKIPPKO’s temporary spaces team – ‘Blank Canvas Exhibition and Creative Spaces’ – will be holding events during May and June at a former pub / restaurant, the Little Blue Orange at Baildon, just outside Bradford. The property forms part of a prospective housing development and Hammond Associates have negotiated a meanwhile lease for the charity to use the space, for 3 – 4 months, until all the plans are approved. This ensures that the property is looked after and saves the landlord money. It also offers a unique space for the artist, who will be exhibiting work with a cycling theme.
The Tour de Yorkshire will be passing in front of the property at the end of April so the theme of cycling memories was felt to be appropriate.
On Sunday 30th April the exhibition will be open to the public – this is stage 3 of the Tour de Yorkshire.
Throughout May free studio space will be offered in the building, for artists who wish to make work in response to the exhibition or to develop the work they have submitted. New works created, plus the work of local children and community groups, will be added to the exhibition and open to the public during the Saltaire Arts Trail weekend of 27/28/29 May.
During June there will be further opportunities for artists, local groups and schools to use the spaces to create installations, performance, visual art works etc. with the plan to have a final event/exhibition at the end of the month.
