Old Square Shopping Centre, Walsall

Hammond Associates in conjunction with Colliers International have sourced 5 empty units in the shopping centre for East Street Arts to fill with local artists. Two units are now in full use and Walsall College are planning to hold their Winter Show in another unit. Why not pop along to see how these empty units have been regenerated.

Co-op property rejuvenated

Hammond Associates have negotiated with The Cooperative Estates department to lease three empty properties for East Street Arts for their ‘Temporary Spaces’ programme.

This programme provides affordable workspace to support artists to develop new work, test ideas and further their career. It also encourages audiences to access the arts in a new way outside of the traditional and formal spaces.

The sites are at Gateshead, Bridlington and Garston – Liverpool.

All change at Gillygate

4–6 Gillygate in York have new artists in residence.  The premises which are managed by Blank Canvas on behalf of SKIPPKO have changed into a gallery displaying local works of art.

The property sourced by Hammond Associates is on a busy street in York and has had a number of different shows since the charity moved in in July this year. Keep your eye on the Blank Canvas Facebook page for more information.

Spooky happenings down at Gillygate

‘We are theatre’ group ran a weekend of Halloween themed events for the community at the retail premises on Gillygate in York. This property sourced through Hammond Associates has been used as an artist exhibition space but this latest metamorphosis shows the versatility of the space.
‘We are Theatre’ had a witches tea party, spooky story corner, a selection of clothes for dressing up as well as games like trick or treat and spot the difference.
